Movie posters started out quite modestly with a still of the movie being used to promote it. As time went on movie posters became something of an art form themselves and people across the globe started collecting and displaying movie posters in their homes.
How do I frame my prized movie poster?
So, you loved the movie and now you want to frame the poster for all to see, but where do you start?
Firstly, it is important to understand whether you are framing your movie poster for collector’s purposes, or just because you want to display it in your home.
If you want to preserve your poster you will need to talk to Caloundra Framing about choosing the right frame for this purpose, as you will need to protect your poster from heat, humidity, UV rays and moisture.
To display your poster, here are a few picture framing tips to consider:
Non-Reflective Glass
When hanging your poster, using non-reflective or anti glare glass means that even in a bright area you will be able to see your artwork, even when the sun or internal light source is shining brightly, this does not mean it is UV protected, thus it is still vulnerable to the effects of sun damage. So, it is advised to use non-reflective or anti glare glass options with UV protection added.
UV Protected Glass
Glass with added UV protection will protect against 99.9% ultra violet rays.
Acrylic
Acrylic is a lightweight and cost-effective alternative to glass; it won’t shatter and is a great option for oversized posters where hanging heavy objects might pose a safety risk. It is important to note that again, acrylic won’t protect against UV rays unless you choose the UV protective options.
Cut to Size
Posters can come in all shapes and sizes, so you might need to cut your poster down to size, or you could talk to the team at Caloundra Framing and discuss our custom framing options.
Colour
Choosing the right colour to complement your poster can have a large impact on its overall appearance. Not sure where to start? Talk to the team at Caloundra Framing on the Sunshine Coast and we can help you pick the best frame for your taste and print.
